Corydon, IA – Resident Engineer
East Penn Mfg. Co. (Deka Battery), a worldwide industry leader in the battery business, is seeking a 1st shift Resident Engineer to work in the Process Engineering department in the Automotive Division in the Corydon, Iowa location.
Primary duties and responsibilities will include:
- Implement approved engineering changes to the facility
- Perform on-site studies to support the Process Engineering Department
- Champion process engineering projects specific to the facility
- Track the performance of processes to ensure the processes’ ability to fulfill customer and EPM performance and safety requirements
- Obtain and integrate process knowledge to facilitate quality improvements
- Lead a team to develop and maintain:
- Change logs
- East Penn material specifications
- Production work instructions
- Quality assurance work instructions
- Author Process Engineering reports to document findings and lessons learned during process improvements and developments
- Lead in root cause analysis and problems solving efforts related to product capability and process quality
- Interface with material suppliers and equipment manufactures relevant to processes
- Fulfill any other expectations of the LEAD (Leadership, Engineering, Automotive Division)
- Travel as required to fulfill the aforementioned responsibilities
RE will work closely with:
- Continuous Improvement
- Quality Control
- Plant Management
- Other Engineering departments
Will work regularly with:
- Senior Supervisors and Assistants
Candidate should have a significant understanding of the battery construction process and should hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Engineering or Scientific discipline preferred. Requirements include:
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong project management skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
- Control Plans
- MSR

- Minitab
