East Penn Manufacturing is One of the Best Places to Work in PA for 7th Consecutive Year

East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc. is ranked 4th among large companies honored as the 2007 Best Places to Work in PA, and is the highest ranked manufacturer among all the companies recognized. The award was announced at a presentation in Hershey, PA on November 27, 2007. This is the seventh consecutive year East Penn has been ranked among the Best Places to Work in PA.

Best Places to Work in PA, conceived in 2000, was designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. It represents a joint effort of Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the PA Department of Community & Economic Development, the PA Chamber of Business & Industry and the Central Penn Business Journal.

The Best Places to Work in PA is awarded to 100 companies: 50 medium size companies (25-250 employees) and 50 large size companies (251 or more).

In addition to information provided directly by the company, a randomly selected group of employees from each company completed a confidential survey. The survey is used to evaluate the employees’ workplace experience in regards to their individual, team and organizational experiences. Best Companies Group managed the survey process, and the results were processed by ModernThink, an outside firm, and accounted for 66% of the score used to determine each employer’s final ranking.

East Penn Chairman DeLight Breidegam stated, “I always felt that if this company was going to be a success, our employees must be treated with respect and fairly rewarded for their efforts with competitive wages, benefits, profit sharing and the opportunity to work in safe, clean, and technologically advanced facilities. As we continue to be ranked as one of the best places to work, especially as a manufacturing company, it is further confirmation that this type of environment is important to our employees.”

East Penn is a leading manufacturer of high quality lead-acid batteries and accessories for the automotive, telecommunications, marine, commercial, industrial and stationary markets. The company’s quality and environmental systems for its entire 520-acre complex have been certified to ISO 9001:2000, ISO/TS 16949:2002, and ISO 14001:2004 requirements.
