East Penn Pairs with Akins Motorsports for NASCAR Busch Series

East Penn Manufacturing Co. proudly announces its Associate Sponsorship in the 2002 NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division with Akins Motorsports and Great Clips car #38 driven by Christian Elder.

The Great Clips car #38 uses Deka brand batteries and accessories to run in 22 races in the Busch Series. The Deka logo will appear on the lower rear quarter panel of the race car for all 22 races. East Penn will be the primary sponsor for four races with the Deka logo prominently displayed on the hood and the side.

Several other racing teams in NASCAR currently use Deka batteries. East Penn provides drivers with the most technologically advanced batteries in the industry including a new Deka racing battery. This sealed (AGM) absorbed glass mat battery is approximately three-quarters the size of a standard Group 24 battery, weighs 21 pounds and is completely spillproof and leakproof. The reduction in size and weight enables a race car to have a dual battery backup virtually eliminating the chances of a charging systems failure.

East Penn is a leading manufacturer of high quality lead-acid batteries and accessories for the automotive, telecommunications, marine, commercial, industrial and stationary markets. The company’s quality systems for its entire 480-acre complex have been certified to ISO 9001:2000 and QS 9000:1998 requirements. The company’s Wire and Cable division has been certified to ISO 14001 Environmental Management System requirements.
