Honda recently presented East Penn with the 2015 Green Excellence Recognition in the area of Energy Reduction during the Sustainability Symposium on November 3, 2015. Honda gave special recognition to suppliers who have achieved environmental excellence in at least one of three different categories including pollution prevention, energy reduction, and conservation of natural resources. Honda’s Environmental Achievement Recognition program allows suppliers to be applauded for their successful endeavors in reducing the industry’s negative impact on the environment.
East Penn was especially recognized for its Deka UltraBattery® energy storage system project, which is located in Lyon Station, PA. This project has the potential to play a significant role in conserving the Nation’s energy consumption by providing environmentally friendly power alternatives for electric utility providers. It will also help save more energy while generating revenue through dynamic frequency regulation services.
