In recent months, we have talked about the importance of East Penn’s UL1973 certification for their complete Reserve Power battery line, which includes the revolutionary Deka Fahrenheit. A quick recap on UL1973 allows for streamlined qualification for system integrators and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) who need to confirm adherence to stationary system integration certifications like UL9540 and National Fire Protection standards like NFPA855. Also, under the NFPA855 2023 standard, UL1973 certified batteries are allowed to be grouped in 250kWh configurations. That is 5 times more than non-certified product, which is limited to 50kWh units that also require three feet of spacing on all sides. This certification allows Deka’s batteries to be safely installed closer together, resulting in more power in less space. Think of locations gridlocked for space, places like New York City, every inch matters in buildings and skyscrapers. With UL 1973 certified Deka product you have the advantage to make your system fit in close dimensions compared to non-certified products. Saving space turns into saving real dollars. This certification also provides you the peace of mind that your datacenter is protected by batteries thoroughly tested and proven to be a safe product.
Now knowing the advantage Deka Batteries have being backed by East Penn, the first lead battery manufacturing company in the U.S.A. to have this certification, what is Deka Fahrenheit providing to your data center? For starters the Deka Fahrenheit features a breakthrough heat-tolerant VRLA monobloc battery design that survives up to 3X longer in temperatures of 60°C – far beyond the life of a normal VRLA battery.
Our white paper discussing “Battery Technology for Data Centers” takes a in depth look at lead and lithium technologies, and provides information on the valuable impact Deka lead batteries, notable Deka Fahrenheit, can have on TCO, sustainability, and proven reliability.
